Book Review: The Shadow of Your Smile

The Shadow of Your Smile
Susan May Warren

I was chosen to review this book as part of a blog tour.  If you’d like to check out other stops on the blog tour follow this link:

About the Book:

A beautiful blanket of snow may cover the quaint town of Deep Haven each winter, but it can’t quite hide the wreckage of Noelle and Eli Hueston’s marriage.
After twenty-five years, they’re contemplating divorce . . . just as soon as their youngest son graduates from high school. But then an accident erases part of Noelle’s memory. Though her other injuries are minor, she doesn’t remember Eli, their children, or the tragedy that has ripped their family apart. What’s more, Noelle is shocked that her life has turned out nothing like she dreamed it would. As she tries to regain her memory and slowly steps into her role as a wife and mother, Eli helps her readjust to daily life with sometimes-hilarious, sometimes-heartwarming results. But can she fall in love again with a man she can’t remember?
Will their secrets destroy them . . . or has erasing the past given them a chance for a future? Read the story behind the story here:
My Thoughts:

This book had me hooked from the first page; right from the beginning there is an air of mystery and suspense. Just the premise of the story was enough to get me interested but Warren’s writing put it over the top, she has a great style of writing that really captures the reader and puts them right into the setting of the story. As I read the book, I fell in love with the community of Deep Haven, Minnesota; I’m sure that’s due, in part, to my romanticized notion of living a small town life.  I found myself wishing I could move there and become a part of that community, although the snow and below freezing winter weather might change my mind! 🙂

  1. My husband and I moved to a small rural community in Missouri two summers ago and love it here so much. We retired and moved to be in the middle of our children in three states in a long day’s drive. Very thankful for where the Lord has us, on our hilltop home, our church and community. I volunteer at our library every Friday! I would like to read “The Shadow of Your Smile.” I have not read any of the Deep Haven books and would like to read “My Foolish Heart” too. Thank you for your review.
